There is no other way to prove our love for God except through
man. God's way to deal with man is through another man, that
man is to be healed by what made him ill.
(St. Anthony Zaccaria, Sermon IV)
Dear Doctor
Greetings in the Lord!
As I give thanks to God for the gift of your ministry of healing the infirm and the afflicted, I also pray that you may be mindful that Jesus, the Divine Physician, is the very Source of every healing.
A profound appreciation of this truth brought St. Anthony Mary Zaccaria, a physician like yourself, to the realization of the magnitude of the spiritual dimension in the holistic healing of a person. It is precisely for this reason that Holy Father Pius XII named Saint Anthony Mary Zaccaria, Patron of Physicians, so that his example might strengthen and sustain doctors in their medical profession.
As a Barnabite Father, I feel compelled by the Holy Spirit to share the spiritual benefits of our Holy Founder, St. Anthony, in a more concrete way. I intend to form a group of doctors, which will serve the spiritual formation of its members in their ministry to the sick. This group will be named Medical Society of St. Anthony Zaccaria. In this way, our Holy Founder’s dream of offering spiritual support to doctors may be fulfilled.
I then invite you and all Catholic doctors in the Greater Lehigh Valley to a meeting at the Barnabite Spiritual Center in Bethlehem, PA, on February 21, 2009, from 2 to 4 o’clock in the afternoon. During this meeting, I shall present to you the Mission and Vision of the Medical Society of St. Anthony Zaccaria.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting. Thank you, and may God bless you.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Robert B. Kosek, CRSP, Ph.D.
